Why I Choose to Give Cheap Milk Powder

Milk is the only thing baby can drink for the first 6 months of life. For a balanced nutrition, parents will usually provide milk to their child until at least 6 years old as a supplement to solid food.

If you are able to provide breast milk to your baby, Congratulations! You are a lucky mom! Not only you save tons of money, you also get to have the unique bonding experience with your baby.

For myself, I am not able to provide breast milk, thus my baby is depend on milk powder.

At first we provided her with a premium brand, Morinaga. But her weight gain was not ideal. Our pediatrician advise us to change to other brands. Thus we started our search for the best milk for her.

We tried almost all branded milk samples in the market provided by our pediatrician's clinic (all brands are priced at more than RM 70 per kg at the time of writing). The most expensive one is Pediasure, around RM 80 for 850g pack, and she is not drinking as much as the recommended volume.

At that time, the recommended volume for her age is around six to seven ounce, but she only manage to drink three to four ounce. When we wash down the leftover milk into the sink, we felt the pinch of washing away of our hard earned money.
One day, one of my friend (mother of two) gave me a call, and I have shared my concern to her. She ask me to try the cheaper brands, like Dutch Lady as her baby show good weight gain drinking it.

At first I was a bit worry as the Dutch Lady brand is almost four time cheaper than most of the brands that recommended by our pediatrician. Anyway we gave it a try, and our baby respond well to Dutch lady.

Since then, we have gave her Dutch Lady until today.

If there is no other medical concern, giving cheap milk powder doesn't meant giving less. The money you save can become a great investment for youir child's education funds.

I have done the calculation, the saving of 1 year by switching from Morinaga to Dutch Lady is RM 1089.18. If I save this amount of money every year in a account that gives me at least 5% interest, when she is 18 years old, the future value of the investment will be RM 32173.29.

MIND BLOWN

I have created a simple excel file to compare savings in between two different brands of milk.

You can download it here > https://urlzs.com/y8hMF

To use it, fill in the details of the selected milk powder brand in the white space.

Din Tai Fung @ Sunway Pyramid

Hi! I would like to share our experience at Din Tai Fung @ Sunway Pyramid. Special thanks to my mom for sponsoring this meal. Din Tai Fung is actually a Taiwanese restaurant. They are famous of their Xiao Long Bao (Small steamed bun with meat fillings and soup). I have also heard that their fried rice is a must try. We have ordered two types of Xiao Long Bao, one set is original flavour, another set is the crab flavour. They have some soy sauce and chili oil as condiments The Xiao Long Bao has to be eaten with ginger and vinegar. Here comes with our Xiao Long Bao. Each of the bao is filled with minced meat and some very steamy soup. You have to really be careful of not scalding yourself. To savour them safely, you will have to make a small bite on the skin and allow the soup to flow out onto your spoon. Wait until the soup cools down a little bit before eating it. The crab flavoured Xiao Long Bao has a little twist of crab roe flavour in it. Not...

Review: Hanbing Korean Dessert Cafe

Hi! Today I would like to share my dining experience in Hanbing Korean Dessert Cafe. It was located at SS15 Courtyard, next to SS15 LRT station. The spotlight here is on their Korean style shave ice, Bingsu. However, they do serve hot food here. This is the bimbab I orderd. Somewhere around RM 15+. They call themselves "Best Bingsu in Town". I do agree with them. So far in the shave ice category, their texture and mouthfeel is the best among those I tried. Basically they are using a milk based bingsu, and they add different toppings on top. Their bingsu is very soft, smooth, and literary melts in your mouth.  Injeolmi Red Bean - Injeolmi means rice cake (the two white colour bits on top of this bingsu). The bingsu is covered with roasted soy bean flavour with a hint of red bean paste on top. (RM 24++) Blueberry snow ice - Covered with blueberries, blueberry syrup and chunks of cheesecake, this bingsu is more flavourful compared to the Injeolmi Red ...
