Avangio Hotel Kota Kinabalu

Today I am staying at Avangio Hotel Kota Kinabalu. Check in was smooth. They have the option to pay the bill upfront. So I have made my payment during check in.

There's a bar next to the lobby

PC area next to the restaurant. I am using the Mac to update my blog after dinner. First time using it. Not very used to it...

I staying in a king room. RM 265 per night with breakfast.

TV and a study table. No room service here.

The view from my room

Tea making facilities

See through bar.

Toilet

There's a rain shower. The toilet can be seen through from the room. There's a blind to cover it up if you are not feeling sexy with your roommate. Haha.

Hair dryer. I hope hotels can purchase better hair dryer. These type of hair dryers dry very slow...

Toothbrush only. They didn't supply the other toiletries like shower cap, ear buds etc… In line with their environmental friendly cause?

Soap/shampoo 2 in 1 dispenser. Their soap was very watery.

Lift lobby at my floor

Hotel swimming pool

They are providing water dispenser so that you can refill your bottles. This is a good move.

Sadly the bar was closed

You can get towels and locker key from the counter.

Hotel Gym

Yoga studio equipped with yoga mat, steps and exercise ball.

There's a phone holder at the panel. So you can use your own app to exercise if you don't like their pre-set programme.

Leg Press. I would like to give praise to this design. This is much safer than our conventional bench press as the weight is not directly fell onto a person's leg. Which it eliminates the risk of nasty accident (warning: gruesome video).

Water dispenser provided.

Sanitizer and wiping cloth

Weighing scale

Locker inside the toilet

Shower

Shampoo and shower gel

Mirror and hair dryer

Sauna room

After I enjoyed their sport facilities, I felt hungry. So I walked around and see anything good to eat. Outside was hazy. So I end up dine in the hotel restaurant, Mercato.

The hotel buffet dinner's normal price is RM 45. For in-house guest, weekday RM 25 and weekend RM 35. Since today is a Friday (considered as weekend price), I paid RM 35 for my dinner.

Salad bar. Too much process meat used in their salad.

This coffee machine is chargeable. So I didn't use.

Pandan Cake, lemon cake, and yam cake. Cake was a bit dried.
Coffee jelly… Not my favourite.
Fruit tart with cream.

Sorry this photo was out of focused. It was a corn based dessert with cream and sago rice. I hope it could be thinner.

Papaya and watermelon.

Coffee and tea. Coffee was thin...

Cold water and apple juice

Chicken soup noodle

I took the soup only. The pepper was very strong. Not to my liking.

Sweet bun with butter.

Steam rice

Fried noodle

Pasta with tomato sauce

Irish beef stew. This was the best dish in this buffet. Beef was soft, the consistency was soup like. It was light and refreshing. Just a little bit salty to drink as soup.

Grill chicken with brown sauce

Fish in lemon sauce. I miss having real fish. In West Malaysia we often served with Pangasius. This fish is good.

Red braised beancurd.

Broccoli, cauliflower and mushroom.

Long bean stir fry with soy sauce

Looks like pumpkin soup, taste like tomato and onion soup… No label here.

My dinner.

Verdict:

Taste: 3/5
Could be better. I didn't give high expectation towards a cheap hotel meal anyway.

Price: 4/5
Great price for in-house guess. Consider this is a buffet.

Ambiance: 4/5
Environment is comfy. I like their silverwares and cutlery. Tastefully designed and decorated.

Service: 4/5
Since I am the very few customer here, their service is quick.

Overall: 3.75/5
Serve it's purpose as a hotel buffet. Nothing fancy.

They do serve ale-carte meal too.

Rise and Shine! It's time for breakfast!

Taste: 3/5
Nothing special. Could be better.

Price: ?/5
Price is inclusive in room rate.

Ambiance: 2/5
They need to buff up on their cleanliness as I saw a few flies flying around.

Service: 3/5
I didn't get assistance when I dropped the casserole cover. Service was normal.

Overall: 1.6/5
Serve it's purpose as a hotel breakfast buffet. Nothing fancy. Could be better.

I think the hotel facilities were great but the number of patron was a little. The facilities were under utilised. Restaurant is cutting down selection to cut cost. Today there's only 10 adults and 2 kids dining in. Overall I felt a bit pity to the owner here. Working here should be relaxing… Hahaha

Chili's @ Sunway Putra Mall

Hi! Today I would like to share about my experience at Chili's at Sunway Putra Mall. We are actually attracted by the "Kids Eat Free" Ballon. Every kid gets a free meal with a paying adult. It includes a meal and free flow of drinks. The kids menu is actually an activity sheet for kids. Comes with one piece of crayon. All drinks in kids meal are bottomless. Games Colouring activities We have ordered fish and chips for our daughter. We have ordered Triple Dipper (RM 36.95) - Texas cheese poppers, signature drumetts (boneless) with buffalo sauce, and southwestern eggrolls. The signature drumetts with buffalo sauce really stands out with it's tangy and spicy flavour. We also ordered Fatija Trio (Lamb, Beef and Prawn). It came with some dipping (guacamole, cream, cheese, and some veggies) and served with wraps. Their wraps are bottomless too! (RM 59.95) Their proteins are cooked just right. Easy to bite and v

Why I Choose to Give Cheap Milk Powder

Milk is the only thing baby can drink for the first 6 months of life. For a balanced nutrition, parents will usually provide milk to their child until at least 6 years old as a supplement to solid food. If you are able to provide breast milk to your baby, Congratulations! You are a lucky mom! Not only you save tons of money, you also get to have the unique bonding experience with your baby. For myself, I am not able to provide breast milk, thus my baby is depend on milk powder. At first we provided her with a premium brand, Morinaga. But her weight gain was not ideal. Our pediatrician advise us to change to other brands. Thus we started our search for the best milk for her. We tried almost all branded milk samples in the market provided by our pediatrician's clinic (all brands are priced at more than RM 70 per kg at the time of writing). The most expensive one is Pediasure, around RM 80 for 850g pack, and she is not drinking as much as the recommended volume.

Universal Noodle @ Citta Mall

Hi. Today I would like to share with you our experience at Universal Noodle, Citta Mall. Image from:  https://www.citta.com.my/listings/universal-noodle/ At first I thought they are selling Japanese Ramen. But it is actually KL's style pork noodle. Dry pork noodle with extra egg. (RM 12.90). Their portion of mince meat and slice meat were quite generous. Boiled rice with fish fillet and mince pork. (RM 16.90) I think they are using grouper fillet for this dish. Quite big portion. We also ordered the french fries and luncheon meat (RM 8.00). This is a new item in their menu. Something different. In total we have spent RM 39 for this meal, inclusive of 5% service charge and 6% SST. Verdict: Taste: 4/5 Freshly made with premium ingredients. Price: 4/5 Considered fair with the big portion. Ambiance: 3/5 OK. Service: 4/5 Good service Overall: 3.75/5 Considered good. Can be revisit. Thank you for reading. Ple
